"I thought he was reef safe" story

So, I've had an emerald crab in my cube for about 4 months. I put him in there to handle a couple small crevices of bubble algae in my rock. They are supposed to eat it right? Nope, mine never touched it.
And then about a week ago I lost a derasa clam. Couldn't figure it out, but it looked like it had been eaten from the one side in with a lot of flesh still in tact on the top. Could it be? I think so.
And then last night I come home from work and see this little booger chomping down on my birds of paradise. He had about half an inch up the base white as can be. I'm watching him and he's laughing at me as he eats his popcorn. Looked at my pink birdsnest and he had done the same thing! I was able to catch him inside another piece of coral and to the sump he went.
Interesting hobby to say the least. You never know...

I've seen them eat turbo snails, that's when I stopped adding any crabs...other than porcelain, or acro crabs.

Hermits don't always respect current residents when scouting for a new home either!

I've fallen for that one too. I think reef crabs (had to be specific) are pretty cool but I wouldn't trust any of them, other than hermits.
